Welcome to Edubacon

This is a place of open, creative, friendly discussion on topics related to education and learning. This is a place to come read interesting things related to learning and education. This is a place for people to come together and have interesting conversations that get you thinking and laughing. This is a place for fun, social interaction and passing the time with friends. This is a digital diner, where the goal is to serve large helpings of hearty food for thought with extra flavor.

We’re serious about the issues, but not much else. Please take some time to look around and contribute to the ongoing discussion on education and learning.

Rather than blab on and on about our goals, method and style, here are some video links that should do the trick. So, let’s start with three anime music videos about a single character. Pay attention to the lyrics of the first two songs and the humor of the third being included and being about the same character.

Like I said, we’re serious about the issues, but not much else. That being said, there are plenty more of us out there. This TED talk reminds me of the style of this endeavor.

Then there is this TED talk by sir Ken Robinson that should give a good idea about the kind of communication; open, thoughtful, friendly, laugh-at-self communication that edubacon is all about.

For those wondering, we are in process of builing, but the construction dust works just fine as a secret seasoning. Whoops, not supposed to say that. Anyway, we hope to eventually include a specials board, wall of mugs, a jutebox, tables with chairs … maybe stools and/or benches … perhaps even a drive in and bacon bits.

At the moment we have an entire “staff” of two kinda crazy guys. Steven Egan is the driving force that has been called “a quite persistent and rather funny blogger” in the blog post Bavacon or: How Blog Branding Ate my Soul by Jim Groom, the guy helping out to see where this idea goes.
